I’ve been watching a lot of LA Ink reruns this week (I want to become a tattoo artist along side being a hair stylist) and It dawned on me that hair art is body art. Interesting. Just a thought. :)
Style Of The Day: Braided Fringe (Bangs)
This is one of my new favorite styles. Its perfect when you want your hair out of your face but still want to wear it down. Very classy!
A friend recently told me that Dove shampoo and conditioner is really good stuff. I’m not usually an advocate of drug store hair care, but my hair was so damaged and nothing was helping it, so i decided to try Dove Damage Therapy shampoo and conditioner. Low and behold, a miracle took place! My hair was substantially healthier with just one wash!. since then I have cut off all of my damaged hair and now use Dove Revival shampoo and conditioner to heal my hair after straightening it every day. Dove really surprised me, and I’m now a big fan!
A cut and highlight I did a while back. it was actually the first highlight I did on a human.
My second client today was a girl who just got out of her first day of high school. She told me she wanted a trim but she also wanted a little change. she showed me a picture of a girl in a magazine with side swept bangs and told me she would like to try that. We went with it and she was so happy she gave me a hug and told me she couldn’t wait to go show her friends tomorrow. I guess it’s a lot of little moments like that which make me love this industry :)
Now THAT is a hair show! TIGI makes some of my favorite hair products, and it looks like they know more than just hair. Check out this awesome recap of the TIGI 2010 release party!
Today I cut an older African American man’s hair with clippers. It was my first clipper cut on the floor, and ethnic hair isn’t easy… but he was so patient and jolly about the whole thing. He managed to help me through a nerve racking situation by being funny and sweet and the haircut turned out great! He is living proof that attitude is everything.
This is a really cool magazine website that has a lot of great features. There are articles about cutting, color, texture, styling, and product, and they are written by some of the most highly regarded stylists in the cosmetology industry. It’s a nice way to learn tips and tricks of the trade.
